Containment lines have held well considering recent high winds, heat and low humidity. However, a spot fire was discovered yesterday afternoon outside firelines on the east end of the Frog Fire area.
Fire personnel were able to construct line all the way around the 12.5-acre fire. Two handcrews and an engine remained on scene through the night.
Crews will continue strengthening lines and begin mopping up this morning.
A local contracted engine was involved in a single-vehicle accident while responding. One crew member was airlifted to Redding for treatment and two others were transported to Aturas for medical care. No serious injuries were reported.
The Modoc National Forest continues to be committed to reducing the risk of wildfire burning onto private property. We do that through specific thinning, burning and forest restoration projects adjacent to our local communities.
