Incident Overview

The Crystal Springs Fire was reported to the park on Sunday April 20 2014 at 4:50 pm local time. The fire was contained at 7 pm Monday April 21. The fire is located in the south district of the park on the flank of Turk Mountain southwest of Crimora Lakes and northeast of Waynesboro VA. On the above map it is the lower of the two fires. (The upper fire shows the Rocks Mountain Fire which was contained in March.) The Crystal Springs Fire was declared controlled at 6 pm on Thursday April 24. The fire will be monitored until it is declared out.

Late winter through green up in spring is Virginia's primary fire season.
