Location: 6.5 miles west of Silver Star in the Highland Mountains

1 mile north of Hells Canyon Cabin

Summary:

Firefighters continue to make good progress in building fireline along all edges of the fire; they are also working to mop up hot spots along the edges and within the interior of the fire. The northern portion of the fire has been burning in beetle infested pine and contains a significant amount of snags and dead or dying trees.

Firefighters are providing for firefighter and public safety in managing this fire. Visitors travelling in this area are advised to drive carefully as there are vehicles heavy equipment and people working along the roadways.

Fire Behavior

There are numerous isolated hot spots present within the fire perimeter that are still generating som heat and subsequently, some white and whispy smoke. The fire is currently creeping and smoldering through the duff and itter layers, with some isolated occurrances of 1,000 and 10,000 hour fuels igniting and displayng shorter flame lenths.

Continue to construct handline around the fire perimeter and conitnue to mop up hot spots. Perform rehabilitation work, if applicable.
