Crews finished securing line August 21. There will be 3 engine crews monitoring the Blacksmith Fork canyon for the forseeable future. Land managers expect there will be smoke visible from the interior of the fire for the next several weeks, however the smoke will be well within the fire’s perimeter and will not pose a risk of spread.

Black Smith Fork Canyon contains critical infrastructure including; a Hyrum city power plant and culinary water supply. In addition, the fire is near multiple summer homes and private recreation properties. Steep inaccessible terrain precludes the use of direct line construction with crews; aircraft were used to secure line in steep inaccessible terrain. Contingency plan involves burnout operation along hand line and or roads.
