As of 9/6/13 Conrad Lake Fire information will no longer be updated unless the fire situation changes significantly.
Please call the Naches Ranger District Office at 509-653-1401 for additional information.
The Conrad Lake Fire is located north of Conrad Meadows west of the South Fork Tieton River and approximately 8 miles south of Rimrock Lake.
Forest Service fire crews have been battling the fire since ignition however steep terrain and dry fuel conditions have made suppression efforts difficult. Fire behavior has been aggressive.
To relieve local fire management staff an Interagency Type II Incident Management Team was assigned to manage the Conrad Lake Fire. Participating agencies included US Forest Service WA State Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Indian Affairs and Yakima County.
Due to decreased fire activity and decreased fire traffic some closures related to the Conrad Lake Fire have now been lifted. However Bear Creek Mountain Trail No. 1130 remains closed.
The Rimrock Peninsula Recreation Area including the boat launch is now open.
Road 1204 and Road 1205 are now open providing access to Pinegrass Ridge.
The road block on Road 1000 has now been moved further up the drainage. Road 1000 is now blocked at its intersection with the 1000-750 road (at Grey Creek Campground where the pavement ends). Access to road 750 is also permissible.
There is still very active fire south of the road block located at the 1000-750 road intersection. Road 1000 beyond the road block is not anticipated to be opened for the rest of the season until the area receives a fire season weather ending event of substantial rain and/or snow.
For more information on trail and road openings and closures which remain in effect related to the Naches Ranger District side of the Manastash Fire please see the article posted on this site entitled "Some Road and Trail Closures Have Been Lifted While Other Closures Remain."

All uncontained fire is on the Wilderness Area. Holiday traffic in area adjacent to fire closure area is heavy. The Committed Resources on the Conrad Lake Fire listed below do not include resources temporarily assigned from the Manastash Ridge Fire. Approximately 84 total personnel are working on the Conrad Lake Fire. Fire resources are continuing to mop up, rehab and monitor management action points. Appropriate response has been identified in long term plan for incident. Joint delegation with Washington Department of Natural Resources remains due to the fire burning onto private land.
