Bagley Fire Area Closure Update
REDDING, Calif., May 21, 2013 – Effective May 2, 2013 the Bagley Fire Emergency Closure Order (No. 14-12-02) has been amended to reopen certain roads impacted by the Bagley Fire and subsequent winter. more

INCIDENT UPDATED 4 DAYS AGO

Incident Overview

Storms during the fall and winter of 2012 left behind hazardous conditions in sections of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Due to this storm activity, including heavy rain and strong winds, road conditions in sections of the National Forest, and in particular in the area of the Bagley Fire, deteriorated.

Effective November 29, 2012, portions of the Bagley Fire Area were closed to the public. Effective May 2, 2013, sections of some roads were reopened. See the attached map for further details. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving on all National Forest System roads.

Significant amounts of debris also impacted areas throughout Shasta Lake. Specifically, the Squaw Creek Arm and McCloud Arm of the lake accumulated heavy amounts of downed limbs and other debris. A 450' log boom was placed across the Squaw Creek arm of Shasta Lake last winter. This debris was later boated to the Jones Valley Inlet area and can be gathered by the public if they obtain a free debris collection permit at the Shasta Lake Ranger Station. Boaters on all of Shasta Lake are still urged to use caution and be aware of floating debris, such as trees and limbs that might still be in the lake.
